WELCOME to my site.
I am an independent musician/artist/instructor based in Houston, TX.
I invented the SureTone Shoulder Rest for Violin and Viola, and I specialize in
precision comfort adjustments and special needs teaching protocols for string players.
My private music lessons for violin and viola include access to items which are patented and/or copyright by me:
Regionally I lead the string sections of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra and the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra as Concertmaster and Associate Concertmaster. I earned Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Rice University for my studies at the Shepherd School of Music.
Since the 1980's I have performed with Houston's major arts and musical organizations including the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, Theater Under the Stars, Broadway Across America,
Texas Chamber Orchestra and many more.
In that time I shared the stage with luminary musicians and entertainers like Bernadette Peters, Henry Mancini, Johnny Mathis, Ed McMahon, Larry Gatlin, Crystal Gayle, Luciano Pavarotti, Hildegard Behrens, and Yanni.
My time with the Houston Symphony, the Aspen Festival Orchestra, and numerous other presenters gave me the opportunity to work closely with the great conductors also: Stanislav Skrowaczewski, Jersey Semkow, Jorge Mester, Max Rudolf, Sir Alexander Gibson, Raymond Leppard, Krystof Penderecki, Cornelius Eberhardt, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Lert, Samuel Jones, and the list continues to grow.
For over three decades I have instructed violin and viola students in private studios in Houston, Katy, and Kingwood.
A number of my students have flourished in musical careers as performers, educators, and administrators of university programs and major arts organizations. They have made me most humble and proud with their dedication to the highest principles of making music and furthering their knowledge and skills. I am grateful to them all.
